What to Expect

Worship

Our times of worship at camp consist of morning and evening sessions where students have extended times of singing, dynamic teaching from our student staff, and opportunities to respond to what God is doing in their lives.

Theme

"To be loved but not known is comforting but superficial. To be known and not loved is our greatest fear. But to be fully known and truly loved is, well, a lot like being loved by God. It is what we need more than anything. It liberates us from pretense, humbles us out of our self-righteousness, and fortifies us for any difficulty life can throw at us.”

- Tim Keller

Activities

Ocoee Ridge offers tons of activities including high ropes, waterslides, a wave pool, and paintball. In addition to those activities, we also host tournaments, contests, trivia, and group games throughout the week to engage all types of students at camp.

Community

One of the best parts of camp is the relationships. Your student will spend more time with their small group at camp than they will in a year’s worth of small groups the rest of the year. We know the time spent sharing meals, walking together, and having fun is where the “magic of camp” happens.

FAQs

Summit Students staff as well as Summit Students volunteers all serve at camp in various roles. We are also blessed to have a number of other staff as well as parents who want to serve for a week each.
Please ensure that the email address used for registration allows emails from The Summit Church. Often, communication is not received because “No Mass Emails” has been selected on an account. We plan to communicate information in April, in June once registration closes, and in July as we approach camp.
We use charter buses to travel to and from camp with one quick stop about halfway for students to stretch and enjoy some Chick-fil-A.
A safe environment is a prerequisite for everything else we want to see God do at camp. Because of the number of students at camp, the length of camp, and the distance from RDU, we know that concerns around safety can take a few different shapes. A variety of Summit pastors, staff, and elders will be present to assist at camp. Both for managing medications as well as responding to needs during the week, we have multiple medical professionals and healthcare providers who give a week to volunteer at camp. If you have other safety-specific questions, email students@summitchurch.com and we’d be happy to answer them.
For the safety of our students and leaders, we ensure that every room does not exceed the number of individual beds available and has at least two background-checked adults. Some rooms will have more than two adults but none will have less. Students spend almost all of their time in their small groups, which are divided up by age, gender, and campus and led by qualified leaders. This helps us ensure that your student is known and loved throughout the week.
We understand your desire to stay connected with your student while they are at summer camp. If you need to contact your student, you can contact Ocoee Ridge Camp at (423) 338-2747. For updates and interactions, download "The Summit Church" app on your mobile device. Additionally, you can connect with us through our nightly YouTube live streams and follow our Instagram account @summitstudentsrdu for real-time updates including bus ETAs.
Reach out to your campus student director for an application.
Detailed communication will be sent to the email address used to register your student(s) as camp approaches. Stay tuned for more information!
